Planters
The cement planters around the Square are being painted by Carlinville’s Walldog artists, Bernie Gietl and D.L. Whitlock-Gietl. The subject matter is authentic advertisements printed in the Carlinville newspaper from 1926-1930. During these years, the original alignment of Route 66 passed through Carlinville.
These planters give a unique look into Carlinville’s history and what it was like to live in a small Midwestern town during this time period.
