10th Annual Tour De Milk – 33 or 66 mile Bike Ride

Tour de Milk riders will travel through the old town of Schoper (now Standard City). In 1918, Standard Oil of Indiana bought several hundred acres of farmland from Thomas Schoper and set up a coal mining operation.

At its peak in the early 1920s, Schoper was the largest coal mine in Illinois, but by the mid-1920s, the price of coal plummeted, and Standard Oil could get its coal cheaper elsewhere. The mine at Schoper closed in 1925, and most of the town’s residents left.

Join us Saturday, September 28 and experience the rural charm of Macoupin County, IL by bike!

As always, aid stations will be stocked with ice-cold milk, courtesy of Prairie Farms Dairy, and other refreshments and snacks. Race it or GO party pace. All are welcome! 33-mile or 66-mile chip timed.

5 Carlinville Plaza Carlinville, IL 62626
